A rune of Clarity is always useful for a physical.

Yes, using this build a ER protter is awesome....if not mandatory.
To be safer, i get Life bond from him(plus Soh from Sos).
So the dmg reduction is:
IAU(+24AR)
AR of Frost(+40ish)
Shield and axe mod if used(8+5? still useful)
Random blessed, i don't use a specifice armor for this build, so isn't full blessed...(+10 al anyway).
And on the top, -50% from LB and any further reduction given by Prot spirit-Spirit bond and such.
It let u even tank to ball things, before hit 1-2-3 aoe attack+splinter and say gg.
Forgot to add to dmg mitigation the 2 paras: anthems+blazing finale fueling ToF!(-30ish% dmg) and SYG(+24 AR).

E/A dagger spam is the better choice imo.
Daggers have very fast attacks speeds and gain the most benefit from Eles high enchanted weapons bonus in combo with Str of Honor enchantment from a hero. The auto attacks are doing more damage then most melees skilled adren attacks.
Energy is not an issue because of the high starting base energy of Eles also the elite can be an energy storage skill if wanted. Armor is plenty high without a shield as has already been pointed out by those supporting the hammer ele. Also because you only need 3 attacks skills you have room for dwarven armor putting you at tank level armor with the damage of a full on Sin.
Whats more, because the eles elite slot is free you can take the 75% block elite flashing blades making a high armor high damage blocking beast. The dagger spam chain is fast and deadly.
Now for the numbers.
Jagged Strike (Bleed), Fox Fangs (+30), Death Blossom (+40) (AoE)
I have jagged replaces with Golden Fox Strike (+26)
All said my open combo is ignoring armor is
Golden Fox Strike +26, +19(frost), +7-17(dagger)= 52-62
Fox Fangs +30, +19, +7-17 = 56-66
Death Blossom +40, +19, +7-17 = 66-76
Now you really to add SoH so +24 on all attacks using the fastest weapon in the game.....
Golden Fox Strike = 76-86
Fox Fangs = 80-90
Death Blossom = 90-100
Jagged might be the better choice because Golden fox is a 4 second cooldown, but I find just my auto attacks are killing things before I even get my chain off anyway even in Hardmode.
The real benefit over a Hammer or Axe bar I have found is the free slots on your bar 3 of them. Headbutt + Dwarven armor is what I use most and the elite skill changes alot but is normally flashing blades.
Funny thing is my Ele/Sin actually puts out more damage then my pure sin and I have higher armor with more PvE skills options like headbutt.

Reading this thread it has inspired me to blow the dust off my old ele title char and give some of these builds a go. Can't stand playing an ER Prot, feels totally unatural for what the class was intended to be and Ele damage on the whole sucks in HM. Ele's could really do with a buff imo.
But until then I'll try out the OP's build.

Anyone have success with a sword build?
Would 100blades be the way to go?
I tried the E/A with daggers and I seemed to do a TON of damage, I had a blast and it was way more fun than AP. AP makes me sad.
